It works on custom builds and in-stock trailers up to about $25,000; ask us about higher-priced builds. Rent to own on food and concession trailers is available to buyers who live in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee or Florida.

How Rent to Own Works on a Food Trailer

  1. Pick the trailer. Choose an in-stock food trailer or smoker from our food & concession inventory, or design a custom kitchen with us on the concession trailer builder. Rent to own is available on both, for trailers up to about $25,000; ask us about higher-priced builds. Food and concession rent to own is available to buyers who live in TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, TN or FL, and ClickLease financing covers every other state.
  2. Get pre-approved. Pre-approval runs through our rent-to-own partner. No credit check rent to own for buyers in TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, TN and FL.
  3. Put 20% down. On a $20,000 trailer that's $4,000 down. Call us for your exact monthly numbers.
  4. Choose your term: 24, 36 or 48 months.
  5. Start serving. Every on-time payment builds equity. Pay it off early and save: early payoff comes with a discount, so you don't pay the full rental contract amount. At the end of the term you own it. If your plans change, you can surrender the trailer and walk away with no impact on your credit.

Who Rent to Own Is a Good Fit for

  • First-time food entrepreneurs who don't have business credit yet.
  • Operators rebuilding credit, or anyone who doesn't want a new loan showing before a house or car purchase.
  • Cooks testing a concept, such as a weekend BBQ, wings or a dessert window, before committing to a full kitchen build.
  • Existing restaurants and caterers adding a second unit without tying up a credit line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which states qualify for rent to own on a food trailer?

Rent to own on food, concession and other specialty trailers at 20% down is available to buyers who live in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee or Florida, on trailers up to about $25,000 (ask us about higher-priced builds). In any other state, ClickLease financing is available in all 50 states with a soft-pull pre-approval and just a doc fee (under $500) due at signing, and we deliver nationwide. (Standard cargo and utility trailers: 15% down in most states; light race trailers can be 15% down too.)

Is there a price limit on rent to own?

Rent to own is available on trailers up to about $25,000. Ask us about higher-priced builds.

Can I rent to own a food trailer with bad credit?

Yes, if you live in one of the 7 states. No credit check rent to own for buyers in TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, TN and FL. Approval is based on the requirements above (age, license, insurance, residency), not your credit score.

How much do I need down?

20% of the trailer price. On a $7,600 starter build that's $1,520. 20% down on a $25,000 trailer is $5,000.

What if the trailer I want costs more than about $25,000?

Ask us about higher-priced builds. We'll walk you through your options, including ClickLease financing, and show you the numbers.

Why is the down payment different for a cargo trailer?

Food and concession trailers are specialty builds, so they take 20% down. Standard trailers like cargo and utility take 15% down, and light race trailers can be 15% down too.

How long does a custom food trailer take?

As fast as 2 weeks; most builds about 4 weeks. We'll give you a timeline with your quote.

Can I rent to own a custom-built concession trailer, or only in-stock units?

Both. Rent to own works on custom builds and on in-stock trailers up to about $25,000, with the same 20% down and 24, 36 or 48 month terms.

Can I rent to own a used food trailer?

Yes. Rent to own is available on pre-owned trailers with 20% down. See our pre-owned trailers.

Does rent to own include the kitchen equipment?

Yes, it can. Equipment installed on the trailer, such as the hood, fire suppression, sinks, fryers, griddle and refrigeration, can be included in your rent-to-own contract. Ask us about anything you plan to add separately.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes, and you'll save. Early payoff comes with a discount: if you pay off your rental term early, you don't pay the full rental contract amount. Call us for a payoff quote.

Can I return the trailer if my plans change?

Yes. You can surrender the trailer and walk away, with no obligation to buy and no impact on your credit.

Is a food trailer cheaper than a food truck on rent to own?

Usually, yes. A trailer has no engine or drivetrain to finance or fix, and you can unhitch it and use your truck for other work. See our food trailer cost guide.
